In my second month of the fellowship in Tulsa, I drove down to New Orleans for a reporting trip. (I also got to visit dear friends and hit my first NOLA Mardi Gras!)
I was notified that I was a finalist for the Aspen Words Emerging Writer Fellowship. Though I won’t be able to attend the summer conference, the jury was very encouraging about my work. Turns out my brilliant friend Jennifer Hope Choi won one of the awards, so they’ve got good taste.
